Starbucks Rewards Terms of Use

PERSONAL USE

Starbucks Rewards is intended for personal use only. Commercial use is prohibited. Starbucks Rewards is not targeted towards, nor intended for use by, anyone under the age of 13. If you are between the ages of 14 and 17 (inclusive), you may access and participate in Starbucks Rewards only under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms of Use.

Our Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms of Use (in the then current form, from time to time) and also governs your participation in Starbucks Rewards. Please read the Privacy Policy carefully to understand how Starbucks collects, uses and stores information about customers, how to update or change your personal information, and how we communicate with you.

JOINING STARBUCKS REWARDS

i) To join Starbucks Rewards, go to member.starbucks.co.nz (“Website”), or to Starbucks New Zealand’s mobile app (“App”) and follow the prompts to create an account. You will be required to provide the following information: First and last name, email address and password.

ii) Birthday (date, month, year) is optional to receive birthday offers. If you do not provide birthday information you will not receive your birthday reward.

iii) You will need to obtain a physical or digital Starbucks card and add funds to your Starbucks Card either online, through the App, or in-person at any Starbucks store in New Zealand. If you do not have a physical card, a digital Card will be assigned to you upon sign up.

iv) You must register a Starbucks Digital Card or a Starbucks Physical Card to your account by adding the 16-digit Starbucks Card number and security code on the Website or App.

v) Starbucks Cards are available in two formats: physical Starbucks cards that are available for sale from Starbucks stores in New Zealand; digital Starbucks Cards that can be purchased at gift.starbucks.co.nz.

vi) You may have only one (1) Starbucks Rewards account that is used as a default card but can have up to 100 Starbucks Cards on your account.

vii) If you do not have a Starbucks card when signing up to Starbucks Rewards, a digital Starbucks Card will be assigned to you with $0.00 value.

viii) All Starbucks Cards, physical and digitally provisioned, are subject to the Starbucks Card Terms & Conditions which are incorporated into these Terms of Use.

EARNING STARS

i) Starbucks Rewards members are able to earn and accumulate "Stars" that can be redeemed for Starbucks Rewards benefits ("Rewards") at all Starbucks stores in New Zealand.

ii) The Rewards that are available to you through Starbucks Rewards are based on the membership level that you are on; Green or Gold. You can earn Stars by making purchases at Starbucks stores in New Zealand using your Starbucks Card.

PAYING WITH A STARBUCKS CARD

i) You will earn 2 (two) Stars for every $1 New Zealand Dollar spent at any Starbucks store in New Zealand. when you a) pay in-person at a participating store with your registered physical Starbucks Card or b) scan the barcode in the App that has a Starbucks Card loaded onto the account.

MULTIPLE TENDER

If you use more than one payment method in a single transaction, you will earn Stars for the payment made with your Starbucks Card(s) only. If members split a transaction, each member must scan their barcode in the App or physical card immediately before making their payment in order to earn Stars for their respective purchase amount.

Example 1: If a member uses 2 different Starbucks cards to pay for their transaction, they will earn Stars for the entire transaction if both cards are registered under the same account.

Example 2: If a member uses 1 Starbucks card to partially pay for their transaction, and another means of payment for the remaining value (e.g. cash, eftpos or credit card), they will only earn Stars for the portion which was paid for with their Starbucks card.

EXCLUSIONS TO EARNING STARS

i) You may not earn Stars on a Starbucks Card reload made in store or online. Stars are earned when making a beverage, merchandise, food or retail whole bean purchase only.

ii) From time to time, we reserve the right to exclude certain products or services from earning Stars.

RETURNS

If you void a purchase, Starbucks will deduct the Stars that you earned for that purchase, potentially resulting in a negative Star balance on your account.

STAR EXPIRATION

Unless otherwise noted, Stars are automatically added to your account within twenty-four (24) hours of your eligible purchase and expires twelve (12) months after your sign up or anniversary date.

Example 1: if you signed up as a Green member on 1 Jan 2021 and did not earn enough Stars to upgrade to Gold within 12 months, your earned Stars will expire on 1 Jan 2022.

You can view and track your Star balance and available Rewards, as well as any additional benefits for which you are eligible as a Starbucks Rewards member, on member.starbucks.co.nz or by using the App.

Upon registration, Green members have 12 months to earn 500 Stars in order to be upgraded to Gold. If the Green member does not qualify, all of their Stars will expire and will be reset to zero on their anniversary date, i.e. 12 months after sign up date.

Upon upgrade, Gold members have 12 months to earn 500 Stars to maintain their Gold membership. If they don’t, their membership will be converted to Green and all of their Stars will expire and will be reset to zero on their anniversary date.

If Gold members earned 500 Stars and above on their anniversary date (date the member was upgraded to Gold), redeemable Stars will be converted to free drinks and the remaining redeemable stars will be carried forward to a new cycle.

REDEEMING STARS FOR REWARDS

Gold members will receive a free beverage for every 150 Stars earned.

Every earned 150 Stars will be automatically converted into a free standard beverage. Add ons will incur additional charges.

Members can check how many free beverages they have to redeem on member.starbucks.co.nz or by using the App.

Each free earned standard beverages will expire 30 days after it has been issued.

Free standard beverage cannot be used on the transaction in which the beverage has been earned.

Free earned beverages cannot be used in conjunction with other promotions and offers. e.g. Gold members cannot apply their Gold monthly perks like the free customisation or Buy One Get One Free offer with the free earned drink.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS OF STARBUCKS REWARDS

Birthday Rewards

Your Birthday Reward may be redeemed at any Starbucks store in New Zealand. Your Birthday Reward is issued on the 1st of your birthday month and is valid for the birthday month only. You must provide your birthday in your account information to be eligible for this reward. You must scan the member barcode in the App or present your registered Starbucks Card in order to redeem your Birthday Reward.

You can check to see if your Birthday Reward is available by accessing your account on member.starbucks.co.nz or by using the App.

When redeeming your Birthday Reward, we reserve the right to request photo identification to confirm date of birth.

Green members are eligible for the following benefits:

i) On your birthday (as indicated in your Starbucks Rewards account), you will receive one (1) free drink size upgrade (“Birthday Reward”).

ii) One (1) free standard tall beverage upon earning your first 150 Stars. This free beverage is valid for 30 days from date of issue.

Gold members are eligible for the following benefits:

i) On your birthday (as indicated in your Starbucks Rewards account), you will receive one (1) complimentary handcrafted tall standard beverage ("Birthday Reward")

ii) Double Stars earned on the first merchandise transaction made on your birthday month. This first transaction can consist of a combination of merchandise and retail whole bean.

iii) One (1) free standard tall beverage upon their membership upgrade from Green to Gold. This free beverage is valid for 30 days from date of issue.

iv) 20 Bonus Stars upon anniversary date if they retain their Gold membership

v) Gold members will receive the following benefits at the beginning of each month while their Gold membership is active. These benefits are valid until the end of the month in which they have been issued:

a) one (1) free drink customisation

b) one (1) free drink size upgrade

c) one (1) buy one get one free offer each month on beverage and food items only. Free item must be of equal or lesser value. This offer excludes RTDs, merchandise, retail beans, or pre-packaged food items.

Only 1 voucher can be redeemed per item. More than 1 voucher can be redeemed per transaction as long as only 1 voucher is applied per item.

Vouchers cannot be combined or used in conjunction with any other offer unless explicitly stated.

Personalised offers

Special offers may be distributed by email or through the App (including via push notifications). In order to receive offers via the App or via email, you will be required to provide a valid email address and opt-in to receive communications from Starbucks New Zealand.

Special offers may be customised based on your purchase behaviours and preferences, and may include discounts on food, beverages and merchandise, or the opportunity to earn Bonus Stars. Special offers may have certain restrictions, including expiration dates and short, time-limited redemption periods. Special offers are personal to you and cannot be shared, copied or transferred. You may be required to scan your member barcode in the App or present or pay with your registered Starbucks Card in order to redeem special offers. Read each offer carefully for specific details, expiration dates, and limitations and restrictions.

Multi-Star Days

Starbucks may hold promotion periods where Stars are earned at a different rate during this window, such as double stars where you can earn twice the number of Stars for your purchase or an additional 10 stars for the purchase. Starbucks will notify you of a designated Multi-Star Day, which will be personalised and selected by Starbucks for you. You must download the Starbucks app or opt-in to receive promotional and marketing communication from Starbucks in order to receive notice of a designated Double Star Day. Starbucks reserves the right to exclude certain products and merchandise from Double Star Day eligibility and to modify the Double Star Day benefit.

Starbucks reserves the right to change or suspend the number and type of benefits offered to members of Starbucks Rewards in its sole discretion at any time.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

There are no participation or membership fees associated with Starbucks Rewards. Stars accrued in connection with Starbucks Rewards are promotional, have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash. In addition, your redemption of Stars accrued in connection with Starbucks Rewards cannot be combined with any other offers or discounts, unless otherwise expressly indicated by Starbucks.

Your Stars Rewards, registered Starbucks Cards, and Starbucks Rewards account are personal to you and may not be sold, transferred or assigned to, or shared with, family, friends or others, or used by you for any commercial purpose. You may have only one (1) Starbucks Rewards account that is personal to you.

Without notice to you, Starbucks reserves the right to suspend any Starbucks Card registered to your account and/or terminate your account and/or your participation in Starbucks Rewards if Starbucks determines, in its sole discretion, that you have violated these Terms of Use or that the use of your Starbucks Rewards account is unauthorised, deceptive, fraudulent or otherwise unlawful. Starbucks may, in its sole discretion, suspend, cancel or combine Starbucks Rewards accounts that appear to be duplicative. In the event that your participation in Starbucks Rewards is terminated, all accrued Stars in your account are void.

Without notice to you, Starbucks also reserves the right to "unregister" and make ineligible for Starbucks Rewards any Starbucks Card or account that has been inactive for two (2) consecutive years after the last financial transaction. The term "financial transaction" shall mean one of the following actions:

·Activation

·Reload

·Redemption of rewards for a registered Starbucks Card

·Purchasing Transaction

·Fund Transfer (as defined herein below) between the registered Starbucks Cards.

In the event that your Starbucks Card or account is unregistered or rendered inactive, all accrued Stars in your account are void.

Starbucks reserves the right to change, modify, discontinue or cancel Starbucks Rewards or any part of the Starbucks Rewards program, at any time and in its sole discretion, without notice to you.

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
